Peels

Feeling confused with the word ‘peel?’

In Skin Clinic ‘speak’ this quite simply means the visible effect the procedure has on your skin’s surface ‘the epidermis’ which is encouraged to flake or peel off more rapidly than is normal for you. The knock on effect from these procedures is that the production of fresh healthy cells found in the base layer of the epidermis is speeded up to encourage a healthy more elastic skin visible over a period of 28 days to several weeks.

  1. Exfoliation with a home care product is usually the mildest form of a encouraging skin to speed up the process of renewal or peel
  2. Enzyme Peel for Clinic/Salon /Home use is more active and may be accompanied by very mild irritation which is temporary ie. a few minutes
  3. Microdermabrasion the power of which is dictated by the machine and the operator. Can be quite aggressive and the treatment plan needs to be well thought out and adapted from session to session to the changing condition of the skin’ surface. May trigger dilated capillaries and can easily graze the skin.
  4. However if applied with care the application of microdermabrasion can ease out clusters of whiteheads (milia) without the need for manual extraction or the use of electrolysis. Ideally this procedure would be combined with a corrective home care routine.
  5. Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Acid peels, these are based on fruit acids and can vary in strength from a mild skin-refreshing lunch time peel to the more powerful dramatically pigment regulating procedures. These should not be confused with ‘Chemical Peels’ which are a totally different ingredient structure and procedure protocol.

  7. LASER, Erbium Yag for example the ‘Harmony Pixel’
